Langkawi is tropical. Temperatures stay warm through the year. Pack sun protection, water and a light rain shell, not winter clothes. You will notice a wetter season and a drier season, but the island is worth it in both. There is no month that is simply “the wrong time”, and the wet season is not “the bad season”. Many guests find the wetter months more comfortable: cloud cuts the harshest sun, forest and waterfalls look alive, and if the sea allows, you still go out.
Book for your dates
Heat is normal. Shade and water at midday; dawn and late afternoon are kinder for paddling or a loop of the island.
Short bursts are common; the air and colour often improve afterwards. We watch the window, not a calendar label.
How to read the two seasons
The drier stretch is usually sunnier, with water that often looks clearer. The wetter stretch means more rain, not a hotel lockdown. Tropical showers often arrive and leave quickly. We plan from sea state, visibility and storm risk that day, not from a blunt “wet season = cancel” rule.
The date you can travel is a good date. A flexible half-day window for the sea matters more than waiting only for the driest weeks.
